Mentawai Photography Tour & Bounty Island Stay

Important:  Please consider before booking and paying for any flight. When booking flight, guests must arrive in Padang city (Minangkabau International Airport) on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Ferry service to Siberut Island departs next morning from Padang to Muara Harbor at 07:00 am.
Details of expedition, destination, time, and activities are very dependent on condition in the field.

• The tour’aim is to experience culture from a journey, expected the local communities will get cultural sharing in order to maintain precious things possess on Mentawai’s culture and wisdom.
• The tour can be customized and there is possibility to do more day.

Day 1 From Padang – Muara Siberut – The Indigeneous

After breakfast at the hotel/homestay, guests will be transported to the port of Padang and sailed to Siberut island via Mentawai Fastboat. On arrival at the Siberut port the guests are met and greet by a local guide and guests will directly be transfered to Rogdog Village via pick up car about 45 minutes where the guests take canoe to travel up the scenic tropical jungle. Once arrive there, guests will do trekking to visit one of the largest remaining traditional Uma of Mentawaian communal house, guests will be greeted by the members of the host family and get to know each other. Guests take a break while sharing stories with local traditional elders about Mentawai culture and heritage.

Day 2-3 Among with the Mentawaian (Exploration & Photography)

Day 2 – 3 As usual guests will be served breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided by local chef or host. On these days, guests stay with Indigenous, guests will get the experience in a lifetime in Photography Tour through shamanic chanting and way of life that remains at the mercy of significant culture, natural beauty, and depth knowledge of the forest. Also, here the guests will learn, watch, and immerse in general cultural activities such as making traditional loincloth made from bark of the tree, fishing net by using banana skirt or using fire torch in the night, sago processing, looking for sago worm, concocting traditional medicine herbs, mixing poison arrows made from natural materials, and hunting – during hunting demonstration if guests lucky, guests can observe endemic wildlife such as Bilou (Hylobates Klosii) and Joja (Presbytis Potenziani)

Day 4-5 Among Mentawaian – Muara Siberut – Bounty Island Stay

After breakfast, guests will prepare their personal belongings and transported back to siberut, guests can take lunch. After having lunch, guests will transfer to a bounty island stay, it is time to relax enjoying white sandy beach and beautiful landscape of the island.

Day 6 Bounty Island – Muara Siberut – Padang City

After breakfast, guests will prepare their personal belongings and transported back to Muara Siberut where guests waiting to take Mentawai Fastboat sail back to Padang City.

Excluded

• International and domestic flight tickets and visa.
• Accommodations cost in Padang (Hotel, food, and beverage or etc).
• Mentawai fast boat tickets to and from (Padang City – Siberut Island).
• Insurances (Mandatory).
• Tipping for (guide, cookers, carries, car driver, and canoe driver).
• All personal expense or anything out of inclusion and program.

Things you need to carry

• Dry bag to protect the phone, camera, certain documents or other precious items.
• Quick dry clothing, long jungle trekking pants, long sleeve trekking shirt, mosquito repellent, torch, raincoat, trekking shoes, and simple blanket.
• It is highly recommended to carry a water purifier pill for your refillable drinking bottle.
• First aid supplies.
• In addition, it might be a good idea to bring the card game. Playing a card on the sidelines can be an exciting option and can be another form of approaching.

Terms and Conditions

Before booking, please read carefully our Terms and Conditions. To proceed the booking, all the guests are deemed to have agreed.

• Booking payments must be done via wise transfer on the Bank Account and fee transfer paid by the sender.
• 40% deposit of the total booking price is required to secure the booking dates and must be paid upront.
• Booking won’t be guaranteed until the deposit has been made, it’s first-served policy.
• Deposit is non-refundable in case of any cancellation by guests for any reason.
• The full payment of balance must be made due to one week prior on the tour date. In case, the date of tour less than one week, guests are required to complete the full payment starting from initial deposit.
• The remaining of full payment is non-refundable but transferable to your friend (new guest) to take your space on the tour.
• Does not assume responsibility to any cancellation caused by various things such as missed travel connection, environmental, illnes, politic, or any other unexpected situation.
• Does not assume liability for any illness, injury, delay, loss, damage, or any unfortunate incident during tour, therefore own travel and health insurance is a mandatory to cover all the guests from those things.
• All the guests are obliged to have peace and mutual respect during tour.
