Hi I'm Jeremy
I created this website based on a request of a close friend and one of the featured guides, it sets out to connect Indonesian guides in the lesser-known areas of the country and do it in ways that make it easy for customers while addressing the guide’s needs.
For now, I'm focusing mostly on West Sumatra and especially the Mentawai Islands. It is the region of Indonesia that is closest to my heart, as many of my close friends and my partner are from there and some of them are even featured on this website. I first went there on a whim during a semester break a few years ago to surf and ended up diving much deeper into the local society than originally intended. Back then and on my visits since, I learned a lot and want to help you with your trip to West Sumatra and eliminate the little pain points, so you can focus on discovering.

Plans for the future are to build out the website to a full platform with booking and payment functionality, a place to connect with other travelers and share experiences. It is my goal to create a safe place for travelers by only allowing government registered guides and to create a vatting process, simplifying communication and creating transparency in the pricing.
Long-term the Goal for hidden Indonesia is to become a place for travelers to easily connect with local Indonesian guides, helping guides to build a stable income and giving travelers unforgettable experiences discovering Indonesia’s lesser known areas.
