Mentawai Islands are renowned tropical Island with Cultural heritage and Nature. In this cultural tour, guests will visit a group of flower people who live close at beautiful natural valley of Siberut island. Mentawai is the best place to conduct Ethnographic study since its one of the oldest tribe in Indonesia as well as Mentawai tattoo is the oldest in the world using materials from nature. This Indigenous lives centered at the Uma Mentawaian communal house lead by chief clan where animism as their beliefs. All living things has both spirit and soul. Guests will be taken into the cultural tour to experience the shamanic ceremonial dance, chanting, hunt, medecine herbs, beautiful nature, and local wisdom.

Important:  Please consider before booking and paying for any flight. When booking flight, guests must arrive in Padang city (Minangkabau International Airport) on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Ferry service to Siberut Island departs next morning from Padang to Muara Harbor at 07:00 am.

Day 1. Arrival

Guests are met and greet by local guide at Padang airport and directly taken by car to check in for an overnight
homestay in Padang. Have chance to rest and relax. After dinner, guests are briefed with all the regards to final
preparation and tour program orientation.

Day 2. Padang City – Siberut Island

After breakfast at homestay guests will be transported to the port of Padang and sailed to Siberut island via
Mentawai Fast Boat. Upon arrival at the Siberut port the guests will be transported to the local house in Siberut
where the lunch will be provided. Guests have lunch, relax and unwind after a long journey at local family
house before next morning leave to visit forest-dwelling people or indigenous.

Day by day itinerary

Day 3. Siberut Island – Inland natural valley of Siberut

Guests will be provided with breakfast in the morning. After having breakfast, guests take canoe to travel up the
scenic tropical jungle. Once there, guests will go to the Uma Mentawaian communal house, guests will be
greeted by the members of the host family and get to know each other. After lunch, guests take a break while
sharing stories with local traditional elders about Mentawai culture and heritage.

Facilities: Mosquito nets, sleeping mattress provided, and bathroom with water on the river

Day 4 - 5. Among Mentawais

Day 4 – 5 As usual guests will be served breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided by local chef or host. On these
days, guests stay with Indigenous, guests will get the experience in a lifetime through shamanic ceremonial
dance, chanting, and way of life that remains on primitive way. Also, here the guests will learn, watch, and
immerse in general cultural activities such as making traditional loincloth made from bark of the tree, fishing
net by using banana skirt or using fire torch in the night, sago processing, looking for sago worm, concocting
traditional medicine herbs, hunting – during hunting demonstration if guests lucky, guests can observe endemic
wildlife such as Bilou (Hylobates Klosii) and Joja (Presbytis Potenziani) and mixing poison arrows made from
natural materials.

Day 6. Among Mentawais – Siberut Harbor – Padang City

After breakfast, guests will prepare their personal belongings and transported back to siberut – local family
house where guests can take lunch. After having lunch, guests will transfer to Siberut harbor to take fast boat to
sail back in Padang city.

 Things you need to carry

  • Dry bag to protect the phone, camera, certain documents or other precious items.
  • Quick dry clothing, long jungle trekking pants, long sleeve trekking shirt, mosquito repellent, torch, raincoat, trekking shoes, and simple blanket.
  • It is highly recommended to carry a water purifier pill for your refillable drinking bottle.
  • First aid supplies.
  • In addition, it might be a good idea to bring the card game. Playing a card on the sidelines can be an exciting option and can be another form of approaching.

  • Deposit 50% is required to secure the booking 3 weeks before the date of tour and 100% paid 2 weeks before the date of tour 
  • Deposit is non-refundable in case of any cancellation by guests for any reason
  • Full payment is non-refundable but transferable with your friend to take your place on the tour
  • Does not assume responsibility to any cancellation due to external things such as environmental, illnes, politic, or any other unexpected situation
  • Does not assume liability for any illness, injury, delay, loss, or damage during tour that is why own travel and health insurance is a mandatory to cover all        the guests from those things
  • All the guests are obliged to have peace and mutual respect during tour
  • The tour is not going to secure and not take care any kind of booking process for accommodation, transportation, and other trip components until the   proven transaction and fully down payment have received
